Choose the Right Insulation Format
Self-Seal Tube — K-Flex ST Self-Seal is the trade standard for domestic and light commercial AC installs. Pre-slit 2m lengths with self-adhesive seam for fast, clean installation on refrigerant pipework.
Insulation Coil — lower cost per metre for bulk installs, VRF/VRV systems, and long pipe runs where insulation is cut to size on site. Armacell AF/Armaflex EVO coil is stocked in 9mm and 13mm wall.
Tuffcoat External Insulation — UV-resistant and waterproof for outdoor and underground pipework where standard nitrile rubber insulation will degrade. Essential for any exposed external pipe run.
Choosing the Right Wall Thickness
9mm wall — tight spaces and short indoor pipe runs. 13mm wall — standard AC installations, the most common specification. 19mm wall — refrigeration and low-temperature systems. 25mm+ — commercial and high-specification installations requiring enhanced thermal performance.
Complete Your Installation
A proper vapour barrier requires more than insulation alone. You will also need insulation tape to seal all joints, fittings, and cut ends, K-420 adhesive for bends, tees, and complex pipework sections, and pipe supports and fixings to secure insulated pipework correctly. Incomplete sealing at joints is the most common cause of condensation and insulation failure.
Once pipework is insulated, system commissioning requires a vacuum pump to evacuate the system and manifold gauges to verify pressure before charging.
