Installation Guide

1. Cut Pipe to Length: Use the Mastercool 70027 Mini Cutter for a clean, square cut.
2. Deburr Edges: Use the Mastercool Inner/Outer Reamer to remove internal and external burrs – critical for perfect flare formation and safety.
3. Flare the Pipe: Insert pipe into Mastercool 70051 clamp (correct size yoke). Tighten until pipe is flush with top of die. Apply light oil and flare with 45° cone to SAE standard.
4. Assemble Flare Joint: Slide brass flare nut onto pipe (thread facing flare). Align with mating flare and hand-tighten, then torque to 18–20 Nm (1/4"), 35–40 Nm (3/8"), 50–55 Nm (1/2"), 65–70 Nm (5/8").
5. Install Insulation: Slide Armaflex Evo tube over pipe before final connection (if possible). After joining, slit insulation lengthwise, fit over pipe, and seal all joints and ends with Armaflex 520 adhesive. Tape with self-adhesive Armaflex tape for UV/outdoor protection.
6. Pressure Test: Use the Javac Nitrogen Pressure Testing Rig for safe, accurate testing to 40 bar (R410A) or 30 bar (R32) per BS EN 378 standards. Hold for 24 hours. Check for leaks with an electronic detector or a soap solution.
7. Evacuate & Charge: Triple evacuate to 500 microns. Charge refrigerant per the manufacturer's data plate.

Safety Precautions

• F-Gas Certification Required: Only F-Gas qualified engineers (Category I) may handle refrigerants, pressure test, or commission systems.
• PPE Mandatory: Wear safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection when cutting, reaming, flaring, or brazing copper.
• Pressure Safety: Never exceed 40 bar during testing. Use OFN (Oxygen-Free Nitrogen) with the Javac rig, regulator, and relief valve. Depressurise fully before opening.
• Adhesive & Solvent Safety: Use Armaflex 520 adhesive in well-ventilated areas. Avoid skin contact and ignition sources (flammable).
• Sharp Edges: Always use the reamer to remove burrs – prevents injury and ensures flare quality.
• Electrical Safety: Isolate power before working near indoor/outdoor units.
• Fire Risk: Armaflex Evo is Class 0, but keep away from open flames during installation.
