Lawton non-corrosive soft solder flux paste for soldering copper to tin alloys in plumbing, HVAC, and refrigeration installations. Water-soluble, halogen-containing formulation compliant with EN-ISO 9454 (2.1.2.C). Brush in cap for easy, controlled application. WRAS approved for use on potable water systems.

  • Non-corrosive — safe on copper, brass, and solder alloys
  • Brush in cap for precise, mess-free application
  • WRAS approved — suitable for drinking water installations
  • Complies with EN-ISO 9454 (2.1.2.C)
  • Water-soluble — residue cleans off with damp cloth
  • Active up to 300°C, stable emulsion up to 65°C
  • 113g (4oz) pot — ideal for domestic and light commercial work
  • Compatible with lead-free and leaded solder wire

How to Use Soldering Flux on Copper Fittings

  1. Cut and deburr — cut the copper pipe cleanly and remove the internal burr with a reamer or deburring tool.
  2. Clean the pipe and fitting — use wire wool or emery cloth to clean the outside of the pipe end and the inside of the fitting socket until bright.
  3. Apply flux — use the brush in the cap to apply a thin, even coat of flux paste to both the pipe end and the inside of the fitting socket. Flux prevents oxidation during heating and helps the solder flow into the joint by capillary action.
  4. Assemble and heat — push the fitting onto the pipe and apply heat evenly around the fitting with a blowtorch until the flux begins to bubble and the copper reaches soldering temperature.
  5. Apply solder — touch the solder wire to the joint (not the flame). When the temperature is correct, the solder will be drawn into the joint. Apply until a complete ring of solder is visible around the fitting.
  6. Allow to cool — do not disturb the joint while cooling. Wipe away excess flux residue with a damp cloth once cool — the water-soluble formulation cleans off easily.

Use with Lawton ECO 1 lead-free solder wire (SOL-LF3.0) for potable water and HVAC applications, or Lawton leaded solder wire (SOL-L3.0) for non-potable refrigeration and industrial pipework.
