AG56% Silver Solder Brazing Rods

Professional-grade 56% silver content brazing rods from Lawton Tubes, supplied in 500mm lengths. Suitable for brazing copper tube and solder-type fittings in HVAC, refrigeration, and plumbing installations. Available flux coated for cleaner, faster joints.

Key Features

  • 56% silver content for high-strength, leak-free joints
  • 500mm rod length — standard trade length
  • Flux coated option eliminates need for separate flux application
  • Suitable for copper-to-copper and copper-to-brass joints
  • Meets requirements for HVAC refrigeration pipework brazing

How to Braze Copper Fittings

  1. Cut tube square using a pipe cutter or fine hacksaw (32 TPI). Remove burr with file or scraper.
  2. Clean outside of copper tube thoroughly with sand cloth or sandpaper to the depth of the fitting. Leave no dark spots.
  3. Clean inside of fitting carefully to tube stop with a wire brush. Sand cloth or sandpaper may also be used.
  4. Apply heat uniformly around the fitting with a torch. When the brazing rod melts on contact with the heated fitting, the correct brazing temperature has been reached. Remove flame and feed rod to the joint at one or two points until a ring of brazing alloy appears at the end of the fitting.

Note: Always work in a well-ventilated area and follow appropriate safety precautions when brazing.
