Aspen Condensate Pumps UK Buying Guide 2026 Stop Leaks And Stress

Why Aspen?

Aspen is the most widely specified condensate pump brand in UK HVAC. Their pumps are found in residential splits, ceiling cassettes, commercial VRF systems, and everything in between. The range covers every common application scenario — compact mini pumps for domestic installs, high-lift models for challenging routing, silent variants for noise-sensitive areas, and high-capacity units for large commercial plant.

Build quality is consistent, spares are readily available, and the alarm/interlock wiring is straightforward to integrate with most AC control boards. That's why most engineers default to Aspen when there's no specific reason to choose otherwise.

Mini Pumps — Residential and Light Commercial

The Mini series is the go-to for single-zone residential splits and small commercial units. Compact enough to fit in tight spaces, reliable enough to leave and forget.

Hi-Lift and High Capacity

For installations where the condensate needs to travel further or the system produces higher volumes.

  • Aspen Hi-Lift 2L — extended lift capability with a 2L reservoir. Good for ceiling cassettes and installations with long discharge runs.
  • Aspen Max Hi-Flow — high flow rate for multiple units draining to a single pump or high-capacity commercial equipment.
  • Aspen FP3552 11L Ultra-Slim — 11L capacity in a slim profile. Designed for large commercial installations and concealed plant rooms where space is tight but volume is high.

Selecting the Right Model

Standard residential split, easy routing: Mini Orange.

Bedroom or office, noise is a concern: Silent+ Mini Orange Gen 5.

Ceiling cassette or long discharge run: Hi-Lift 2L — check the lift spec against your actual installation height.

Multiple units or high-capacity system: Max Hi-Flow or FP3552 depending on volume.

Not sure? Check the unit's condensate output (litres/hour) against the pump's rated flow, and the discharge height against the pump's maximum head. Apply a 1.5× safety factor on flow rate.

Installation Tips

Inlet pipe — keep it short and sloped continuously toward the pump. Any trap or upward section causes airlocks and intermittent operation.

Discharge pipe — use the bore size specified by Aspen. Larger bore reduces lift performance. Minimise bends. Terminate at a visible drain point so any overflow is immediately obvious.

Alarm wiring — always connect the pump's overflow alarm output to the AC unit's control board. If the pump fails, the unit shuts down before water damage occurs. This is standard practice, not optional.

Electrical supply — 240V AC, dedicated circuit with 5A protection minimum. Don't share with other loads.

Maintenance

Clean the reservoir every 6–12 months. Algae and biofilm accumulate on the float mechanism and can cause the pump to run continuously or fail to activate. A condensate treatment tablet slows biological growth between cleans. Check the discharge line is clear and flowing freely on every service visit — a partially blocked discharge is the most common cause of overflow alarms.
