Why R1234yf Requires Dedicated Tools
R1234yf is classified as an A2L mildly flammable refrigerant — the same classification as R32. Tools and equipment used with R1234yf must be rated and approved for use with A2L flammable refrigerants. R1234yf also uses unique fittings (SAE J2888) to prevent cross-contamination with R134a systems. Standard R134a tools are not compatible.
