K-FLEX ST Anti-Condensation Tape FAQ
K-FLEX ST Anti-Condensation Tape – Frequently Asked Questions
What is K-FLEX ST Anti-Condensation Tape used for?
K-FLEX ST Anti-Condensation Tape is primarily designed to seal joints and seams in K-FLEX ST and ST/SK elastomeric pipe insulation systems. It creates an airtight vapour barrier that prevents condensation, moisture ingress, and energy loss. The tape is also effective for draught prevention, sealing building penetrations, and general insulation repairs.
Is this tape compatible with all K-FLEX products?
Yes, K-FLEX ST Anti-Condensation Tape is compatible with all K-FLEX ST and ST/SK product families. It's engineered to work seamlessly with K-FLEX elastomeric insulation materials and provides optimal adhesion to the insulation surface.
How do I apply the tape correctly?
Ensure the insulation surface is clean, dry, and free from dust or oils. Peel back the release liner and apply the tape with firm, even pressure along the joint or seam. Overlap by at least 25mm at corners and junctions. Avoid stretching the tape during application.
What temperature range can the tape withstand?
K-FLEX ST Anti-Condensation Tape performs reliably from -40°C to +80°C, making it suitable for both refrigeration and heating applications.
Can I use this tape for outdoor applications?
It provides excellent vapour barrier properties, but is primarily intended for indoor use or protected outdoor installations. For outdoor installations exposed to the elements, additional UV-resistant protection or jacketing is recommended.
How much tape do I need?
As a rule of thumb, allow roughly 1 metre of tape per metre of pipe insulation joint. For complex installations with elbows, tees, or fittings, add 20–30% extra for overlaps and wastage.
Does the tape meet UK building regulations?
Yes — it meets BS EN 13469 standards for vapour barrier performance and is suitable for applications requiring compliance with UK Building Regulations Part L.
Can the tape be used for draught proofing?
Absolutely. It is highly effective for sealing gaps around pipes, ducts, and penetrations to eliminate draughts and improve energy efficiency.
What width and length options are available?
See the current options on the K-FLEX ST Anti-Condensation Tape product page.
How should I store unused tape?
Store in its original packaging in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. Keep sealed until use. Shelf life is typically 12–18 months.
