Frequently Asked Questions

How is this cable priced?
This cable is priced and sold per metre. Enter the number of metres required in the quantity box. Orders are supplied as one continuous length wherever possible.

Can this cable be buried directly in the ground?
Yes. SWA cable is suitable for direct burial. Minimum cover depths apply — refer to BS7671 for guidance. Use of a cable tile or marker tape above the cable is recommended.

What cable glands do I need?
SWA cable requires appropriate steel wire armour cable glands (BW or CW type, sized to the cable OD). We stock SWA cable glands separately — see our Cable Glands range.

Is this cable suitable for outdoor use?
Yes. The black UV-resistant PVC outer sheath is suitable for outdoor surface-mounted and buried installations.

Which core configuration do I need?
3 Core cable is commonly used for single-phase supplies (Live, Neutral and CPC) or three-phase circuits that do not require a neutral conductor. 4 Core cable is typically used for three-phase plus neutral installations. Always follow the equipment manufacturer's instructions and BS7671.

What is the minimum order quantity?
There is no minimum order quantity. Enter the exact number of metres required. For very short lengths, please contact us before ordering.
