Nitrogen Pressure Testing

All new AC and refrigeration installations must be pressure tested with OFN (oxygen-free nitrogen) before evacuation and charging. Never use compressed air or oxygen — only OFN is safe for refrigeration system pressure testing. Test pressures must meet manufacturer specifications — R32 systems require higher test pressures than R410A.

A complete nitrogen pressure testing setup requires a nitrogen regulator rated to the required test pressure, a pressure gauge set, and OFN hoses rated for the working pressure. For VRF and VRV systems, a 24-hour standing test is standard practice — ensure your gauge set has sufficient resolution to detect slow pressure drops.
